    Multiboxing Basics
Multi boxing is a label used to describe 1 gamer playing multiple characters concurrently. This can be done using 1 or more machines. Solutions exist in support of both the PC and Mac. There is also solutions in favor of using both PC and Mac at the same time.

For particular players there is not sufficient challenge in playing only one account at a time. Others look to recreate the feel of old time Computer RPGs where a well designed party was used to adventure collectively.

This part will cover the basics of Multiboxing.

Game software - You will have to obtain the game, and depending on needs the expansion as well, for each account you would like to run simultaneously.

At least one installation of the game software must be present on every PC.

A distinguished install folder can be used to open multiple instances of the game client. It is not needful to have multiple World of Warcraft directories on a machine to run multiple WoW Windows.

The distinguished folder install option saves HD space and make easy setup and maintenance of your UI and multiboxing addons.

Some gamers prefer to maintain many copies of the game files on one machine. It is widely thought that many installs of the game client will improve performance, however this is only partly true. Many different installs will improve performance only if each installation is on a different hard disk drive.

If the multiple directory method of installation is decided you will need to maintain multiboxing addons and user interface changes for each install individually.

System hardware - To run 2 or more copies on the same PC, it is preferred that it contain at least a dual core CPU, discrete 3d graphics accelerator, and at least one gigabyte of RAM. Extra copies on the same PC will require quicker processors and more Random Access Memory (RAM). When using separate PCs, try to maintain all of them similar.
